SGD9 Passport Collection Service Charge
Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009There has been a change at The High Commission of India in Singapore Passport Services
The High Commission of India has decided to outsource passport collection in Singapore with effect from 22nd January 2009.
S$9/- per application would be charged by Passport Collection Center as service charges in addition to prescribed passport services fee.
Before the change, there were officers at the High Comm who were collecting the passports. The service fees was being used to compensate the officers’ collection work.
What are they doing now? The service fees should be used to pay the outsourcing agents now!
Why should the citizens pay extra SGD9
Am looking forward for clarifications
Work on Stuff that Matters
Sunday, January 18th, 2009Am rethinking the purpose of this blog and my other online endeavors after reading Seth Godin’s In the mood
Another post Who you are and what you do helps with this
It is time to Work on Stuff that Matters because of the “very tough economic climate”
Someone could be considering a truckload of dung for you – since many years for some e.g. Satyam employees. Sad Indeed!
I do not want to be complicit in The Biggest Ponzi Scheme of Them All
It does not seem to be sufficient to “be smart and get things done”
It is important to “reskill yourself” – _A_ conclusion after reading Changes at O’Reilly
O’Reilly laid off 30 employees yesterday
O’Reilly employees are a bright, adventurous, hardworking lot, as the companies who next employ them will discover
we’d created some significant redundancies in the organization
we’re going after some entirely new business areas that will require us to hire staff with new skills
iPhone
Sunday, December 21st, 2008iPhone. Therefore I am.
A friend was very surprised that I bought an iPhone. I bought a Nokia N95 8GB and one of the key reasons was the 5 Megapixel camera
Compared to that, iPhone camera resolution is just 2 and out of the box, there is no option to record videos. I still do not know how to record videos.. But it does not matter _so_ much now!
The apps more than make up for this missing feature!
Most of the iPhone Ads end with “Solving Life’s Dilemmas one app at a time”
The Nokia N95 GB was not one of the first answers for “When your house is on fire..” scenario. The iPhone is
The iPhone and many of the apps are awesome and inspiring..
In Hard Work and Practice in Programming, Tim O’Reilly writes
There’s a long arc in computing that teaches us how much we gain through advances in ease-of-use, with the iPhone being the latest breakthrough success. But it’s important to remember how much we lose when we think that ease of use is everything. Many things worth doing are hard, requiring a great deal of practice before you achieve mastery.
The iPhone inspires me to achieve mastery in many areas

pps: Another article comes to mind so very often in the last days Helping to Write History
“So,” he [Obama] said. “What’s your theory on speechwriting?”
“A speech can broaden the circle of people who care about this stuff,” Favreau said. “How do you say to the average person that’s been hurting: ‘I hear you. I’m there. Even though you’ve been so disappointed and cynical about politics in the past, and with good reason, we can move in the right direction. Just give me a chance.’ ”
“I think this is going to work,” Obama said.
five daily mental things
Monday, December 8th, 2008Came across a timely (new year coming soon) call to action by Mindapples at confused of calcutta: Five-a-day mental habits
Write a post telling your readers five things you do that help keep you mentally well
- Play with Mukesh and talk about his school day
- iPhone
- Smile (for even the supposedly most negative signals and _think_ what was my action that caused such a reaction)
- Read
- Walk
Reminds me of the phrase “mental hygiene” by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Why I bought iPhone App Classics
Monday, December 8th, 2008- At first, there was a pointer to a mosaic of the 10,000+ iPhone apps

Why is there no link from classicsapp.com to taptaptap.com ?
The 21.9 MB is still being downloaded.. Is there any site showing the graph of $ against download size?
