Thailand Visa on Arrival

Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Kingdom of Thailand : According to the Interior Ministerial Announcements, passport holders from 20 countries may apply for visas at the immigration checkpoints for the purpose of tourism for the period of not exceeding 15 days.

It is not stated that the queue could be really long

Hi I got a Visa on Arrival in Bangkok about 2 months ago with my Indian passport. The queue is not that long depending on the flights that have just arrived (you’ll mostly find only Indians & Chinese in the queue since people from other countries like Singapore or the West are not required to apply for a visa to Thailand). You can get yours within 5 mins especially if you outdo the rest of the Indians on-board :)

Ask the stewardess on the flight for the Visa form and keep everything ready. In my case I really had to hurry because I had a connecting flight within an hour.

Depends on the timing, if you have couple of flights from China/India arriving at the same time, you can wait forever. I have scanned the Visa on Arrival Form and put on my blog. It will save time trying to find the form and filling it.

Help me spread the word around.

    Hi,

Thanks for the form. I am going to Thailand for first time. The application says I should have 10000 Thai Baht for living and 1000 for visa fees. I am carrying US $ is it fine?

Also I am going alone for a 3 days pleasure trip is it fine? What type of questions they ask at immegration?

    Regards,
    Prashant

Nobody asks anything. Show them the 10 grand bahts (or equivalent usd), and the 1 grand for visa fees, and you’re on your way with the visa stamped.Simple as that.

You might know about the new regulation of Thai Immigration. In order to limit the amount of foreigners using “back-to-back” border runs, Thai Immigration has issued a new regulation regarding the 30 days tourist exemption. Effective immediately, travellers without visa will get only 15 days of stay if they are arriving via a land border checkpoint from a neighboring country.
