the will to act

thinkprogress.org: VIDEO: Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth Wins Best Documentary : ..My fellow Americans, people all over the world — we need to solve the climate crisis. It’s not a political issue. It’s a moral issue. We have everything we need to get started with the possible exception of the will to act. That’s a renewable resource. Let’s renew it..

Bloglines vs Google Reader

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

Am not switching from Bloglines to Google Reader yet!

Reasons:

1) In the Settings > Subscriptions screen, there is a “Filter by name, tag, or URL” option. There doesnot seem to be a way to realise “show all feeds with no tags!”. This is very important to organise feeds !

2) Also there is no hierarchical display of subscriptions by tags!

There are many who have switched from Bloglines to Google Reader like Geek to Live: From Bloglines to Google Reader

nozbe and priority

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

nozbe is well designed and useful :-) (via Web Worker Daily: Open Thread: How Do You Decide What To Do from Your To Do List?)

Merlin Mann asks what does priority really mean as in “what really should be done next” !

Reminds of Gandhi who wrote towards the end of his life : I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt or when the self becomes too much for you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and weakest man whom you have seen, and ask yourself if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him. Will he gain anything by it? Will it restore him to a control over his own life and destiny?

Coming back to what priority means to me..

Career

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

answers.com: career : ..Doing what one does as a permanent occupation or lifework..

David Maister’s Perspective on Careers was very timely :-) The followup post Ayn Rand is good too : ..The key message is that the willingness to take responsibility for what happens to you, and to make things happen, is the beginning not only of healthy thinking and exciting productive careers, but also of a life of integrity, standards and relationships. These things, I believe, are connected..For those who need an introduction, Ayn Rand was an author who wrote “The Fountainhead” and “Atlas Shrugged,” two novels that communicate her philosophy of “enlightened self-interest.”..
